Our Granddaughter Accused Us of Being Cheap after Getting Our Wedding Present

My husband and I bought our granddaughter a wedding gift from her registry. She reached out and accused us of being cheap after receiving it. Now, she threatens to cut us off because we didn’t give her the cash gift we usually present to our grandkids a day before their wedding.

I’m in my 70s, a proud grandmother to five grandkids. I adore them and always support them emotionally and financially. Whenever they have celebrations or hard times, they know they can count on me.

Last October, the youngest, Eloise, got married. We have a tradition of buying a small gift from the registry and then giving a check for $40,000 the day before the wedding. We sent an air fryer, the cheapest item on her list. Eloise called, livid, accusing us of being cheap.

In the heat of the moment, I revealed the $40,000 gift plan. She didn’t believe it and accused us of discrimination when she found out from her cousins. We stood firm, explaining our stance was due to her initial reaction. Now, Eloise is boycotting Christmas, but we hope she will understand the importance of respect and family.
