My MIL Called My Quiet Mom ‘Ugly’ at My Wedding – She Couldn’t Stand Up for Herself, but I Did

At my wedding, my mother-in-law called my shy mom “ugly,” and I couldn’t let it slide. My plan for revenge seemed perfect, but as the fallout began, I realized I might have crossed a line I couldn’t come back from.

Adjusting my veil, my hands shook with nerves and excitement. My mom, in her simple dark dress, approached with misty eyes. “You look beautiful, Sophia.”

“Thanks, Mom. You look lovely too,” I replied, noticing her uncertainty. Despite her shyness, today, I wanted her to shine.

The ceremony was a blur, but during the reception, I saw Mom alone by the punch bowl. I made my way over, but my mother-in-law, Vivian, interrupted, making a snide comment about Mom’s attire. Furious, I planned my revenge.

I asked our wedding photographer to highlight unflattering shots of Vivian. The results were drastic, and when Vivian called, outraged, I knew I’d gone too far.

Reflecting on my actions, I apologized to Vivian. It was a step towards mending family ties, showing that sometimes, the best revenge is choosing to forgive.
