If Obama and Trump went head-to-head in the 2028 election, here’s who would win

A new poll imagines an impossible 2028 presidential matchup between Donald Trump and Barack Obama, despite the 22nd Amendment limiting presidents to two terms.

Trump has repeatedly hinted at a third run, claiming people urge him to pursue it, though he admits it’s legally uncertain. Obama has stayed silent, but the idea has sparked public curiosity.

When asked how they would vote in a hypothetical race, 52% of 1,013 registered voters chose Obama, while 41% backed Trump. Obama led strongly among Hispanic and Black voters and was the only recent Democrat to outperform Trump in similar matchups. Though changing the Constitution would be nearly impossible, Trump continues to tease the idea, keeping the speculation alive.
