Donald Trump has promised to ban overweight people from entering US – new guidelines have been revealed

The US State Department, under President Donald Trump’s administration, introduced new immigration guidelines suggesting that foreigners deemed obese or with certain health conditions may be denied entry.

Aimed at reducing potential healthcare costs for American taxpayers, the policy allows visa officers to scrutinize applicants’ health more closely. Conditions such as obesity, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, as well as mental health issues, could influence visa decisions.

Officers are advised to consider whether applicants can cover their medical expenses without public assistance. Legal experts have raised concerns, noting that officers are not medical professionals and may make biased judgments. The guidelines also extend to applicants’ family members, prompting debate over fairness and practicality in immigration evaluations.
