At the wedding, the bride’s dog stood in the way.

Ileana’s heart broke as Rex collapsed at her feet. The loyal eyes that had watched over her for years were dimming. Her father knelt beside her.

— Sweetheart, we should take him to the vet, — he said gently. But Ileana already knew.

— He waited… to see me in my wedding dress, — she whispered.

Just then, Constantin, her groom, descended the church steps. Still in his formal suit, he knelt beside them.

— What’s happening? — he asked, alarmed.

— He’s saying goodbye, — Ileana said through tears.

Constantin held her hand and gently stroked Rex’s fur. The guests stood in respectful silence, watching.

With a final burst of strength, Rex stood, trembling. He walked to Constantin, licked his hand—as if giving his blessing—then lay beside Ileana one last time… and passed.

Tears flowed freely. No one expected this day of joy to also bring such sorrow.

But then, something miraculous happened.

A glowing white dove landed on Ileana’s shoulder. Its eyes, gentle and familiar, reminded her of Rex.

— It’s a sign, — her mother whispered
