Users Say ‘It’s Not Fair’ Gymnast Hezly Rivera, 16, Won’t Compete in Team Finals at Olympics 2024 — Why Was She Removed?

Hezly Rivera’s journey to gymnastics was a twist of fate. At just five, she stood out at a friend’s birthday party, catching the eye of coaching staff who suggested she join a gymnastics team. Her exceptional talent led to her being coached by a renowned trainer, and by 2024, she qualified for the Paris Olympics.

Despite a shaky performance in the qualifiers, which kept her out of the finals, Hezly’s dedication and family support were unwavering. Her father’s emotional reaction to her Olympic qualification was captured on video, and though she didn’t make it to the finals individually, her team won gold, securing her an Olympic medal.

Raised in Plano, Texas, after moving from New Jersey, Hezly’s relentless practice and homeschooling from age eight paid off. At 16, she fulfilled her dream of competing in the Olympics, proudly representing both the US and her Dominican heritage.
