My Husband Created a New Schedule for Me to ‘Become a Better Wife’ — I Taught Him a Good Lesson in Response

I was stunned when my husband, Jake, handed me a schedule to help me “become a better wife.” Instead of reacting angrily, I decided to play along. Little did he know, I was about to teach him a lesson.

Jake, usually easily swayed by trends or the latest YouTube guru, had recently started taking relationship advice from Steve—a perpetually single guy with strong opinions. His comments had been irritating, but it escalated when Jake brought home a list titled “Lisa’s Weekly Routine for Becoming a Better Wife.” The schedule included waking up at 5 a.m. for a gourmet breakfast, a daily gym session, and endless chores, all while managing my full-time job.

I was furious but chose a different approach. I created a counter-list: “Jake’s Plan for Becoming the Best Husband Ever,” complete with exaggerated costs like $75,000 for my lost salary and $1,200 for a personal trainer. When Jake saw it, the realization of his mistake was clear.

We ripped up the list together, understanding that marriage is about respect, not rigid routines.
