My FIL Got Rid of My Beloved Flower Garden & Dug a Pool for Himself without Permission – But Karma Hit Him Back Harshly

When my father-in-law Richard bulldozed my beloved garden for his unauthorized pool, I was livid. Karma soon turned his dream project into a nightmare.

I’m Linda, a 40-year-old high school teacher, married to Tom. We’ve lived with Richard for two years since his wife passed. Richard’s opinions on everything have made living together challenging.

My garden was my sanctuary, a lush lawn with colorful flower beds. But Richard had other plans. Over dinner, he announced, “We should put in a pool.” Despite our protests, he persisted.

One weekend, Tom and I visited my parents. Upon our return, we found our yard destroyed and a huge hole where my garden once was. Richard proudly said, “I’ve started the pool for you.”

Tom was furious, and I was heartbroken. As we were dealing with the mess, our neighbor Mrs. Jensen called the city inspector. He halted the project and fined Richard for not having permits. Then, the contractors hit a water pipe, flooding our backyard and basement. Richard slipped and fell in the mud, his pool dreams in ruins.

Richard had to pay for all repairs. Since then, he avoids home improvements, spending his time quietly. My garden is now even better, and Mrs. Jensen has become a friend. The ordeal strengthened Tom’s and my relationship. We laugh about it now, sharing the story at dinner parties.

In the end, karma taught Richard a lesson in respecting others’ property.
