Bar Waitress Texts with Stranger, Posing as Woman He Met There Once, until He Asks Her out — Story of the Day

Nelly is desperate for love but fears she’ll never find the right person. Observing others finding love, she spots a man she would love to meet getting ditched by another girl. Seizing the moment, Nelly decides to leave him a note, pretending to be the other girl, to get a chance to talk to him.

At the counter in a local bar, thirty-year-old waitress Nelly wipes glasses while chatting with her colleague, Ron, the bartender. Ron, pouring drinks, remarks on her dislike for clubs, blind dates, and dating sites, wondering how she expects to find love.

One evening, Nelly notices a kind-looking man, Peter, trying to flirt with a woman who is clearly uninterested. Feeling sorry for Peter, Nelly writes a note pretending to be the woman and gives him her number. When Peter texts, thinking it’s the other girl, Nelly continues the conversation, unable to confess the truth. As their connection grows, Nelly knows she must eventually come clean, leading to an unexpected and heartfelt encounter.
