A federal appeals court has ruled that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) can continue using Seattle’s King County International Airport (Boeing Field) for chartered deportation flights. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a 2019 local executive order that aimed to block these deportations, arguing the order violated a contract allowing the federal government to use the facility. The court ruled the order illegal, as it interfered with federal immigration processes. The decision also introduced measures for transparency, including video feeds and flight logs, ensuring ICE can operate at the airport without local obstruction.
