Ocasio-Cortez Sends Panicked Letter To DOJ After Homan Threat

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed concern after reports suggested she could be investigated for allegedly aiding illegal immigrants in avoiding ICE apprehension.

In a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, she demanded clarification on whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) was being pressured to target her for her public advocacy. The controversy stemmed from her “Know Your Rights” webinar, where she informed immigrants of their legal rights and how to respond to ICE actions. Border czar Tom Homan had referred her to the DOJ for investigation, claiming her actions helped illegal immigrants evade arrest. Ocasio-Cortez defended her actions as part of her responsibility to educate the public, invoking the First Amendment and requesting transparency on the matter.
