Urgent warning to

Australians planning to travel to or through Qatar are being urged to exercise a high degree of caution, as the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) raised Qatar’s travel alert to Level 2 due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The updated advice warns of possible flight disruptions, airspace closures, and sudden protests.

While not advising against travel entirely, DFAT stresses that the risk level in Qatar is now higher than in major Australian cities. Travellers should avoid demonstrations and stay informed through news updates.

The alert follows worsening conflict between Israel and Iran, which has led to Australia closing its embassy in Tehran and urging citizens to leave Iran. Over 1,200 Australians remain registered for help in leaving Israel amid ongoing violence.
