Tomatoes and cucumbers should never be paired in a salad, in case you didn’t know.

.Introduction: Tomatoes and cucumbers, though nutritious, are advised not to be paired in a salad according to Ayurvedic principles due to differing digestion rates which could lead to stomach discomfort.

.Digestion Disparities: Mixing vegetables with varying digestion durations like tomatoes (quick-digesting) and cucumbers (slow-digesting) can cause “stomach fermentation and contamination of other body parts.” This mismatch can result in a disordered digestive blend, potentially leading to gas, bloating, or stomach pain.

.Ayurvedic Guidance: Ayurveda suggests choosing salad components that have similar digestion times to promote efficient nutrient absorption and prevent digestive issues.

.Other Troublesome Pairings: Similar digestive discord can occur with other food combinations like fruits post meal, or mixing macaroni with cheese or meat. Overeating proteins or mixing cheese with vegetables can also trigger bloating.

.Specific Food Cautions: Orange juice, due to its acidity, can hamper starch digestion when consumed with bread or noodles. Melons should be eaten alone to avoid digestive issues. Additionally, a mix of milk and bananas or fruit with yogurt can slow digestion and disrupt intestinal flora balance.
