This GIrl Left Her Family at 14 to Pursue Music in Another Country — Now She’s World-Famous with Guinness Records

Dua Lipa, born into a large Albanian family, moved from London to Kosovo at age 11. By 14, she felt her dreams couldn’t thrive in Kosovo and persuaded her parents to let her return to London, claiming it was for her education. Once back, she attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School and began recording music. Despite limited supervision, Dua’s ambition drove her to contact producers and secure a manager, leading to a successful music career.

Her determination paid off as she broke multiple Guinness World Records, including for her hit “Levitating” and a record-breaking livestream concert. She also became Spotify’s most listened-to female artist in 2021. Dua remains grounded, appreciating her parents’ sacrifices and her British and newly acquired Albanian citizenship. Her success story is a testament to her resilience and passion for music.
