My name is Margaret, but most call me Maggie. I went to the supermarket to buy a bun. Living alone since my family abandoned me, small joys like this matter.

At the checkout, I realized I had lost my two dollars. Desperately searching for coins, the cashier snapped, “Hurry up, old lady. If you can’t afford it, don’t waste our time.”

Feeling humiliated, I was about to leave when karma struck. The cashier, in her haste, knocked over a stack of cans. Flustered, she slipped and fell, causing a scene.

A kind stranger, who had witnessed the whole scene, offered to pay for my bun. His kindness was a reminder that empathy and understanding can profoundly impact someone’s life.
