Rob Reiner’s eldest daughter has spoken publicly following the reported deaths of her father, the legendary filmmaker and actor, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in what authorities have described as a deeply troubling and still-unfolding case.
The couple was reportedly found dead inside their Brentwood, California home on Saturday, December 14. Law enforcement officials confirmed that both individuals were discovered with injuries described as lacerations consistent with knife wounds, prompting the Los Angeles Police Department to treat the scene as suspicious. The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division has taken the lead on the investigation as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Emergency responders were called to the residence after a medical aid request was made during the afternoon hours. Upon arrival, first responders found the bodies of an elderly man and woman inside the home. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Due to the nature of the injuries, authorities quickly secured the property and began a full forensic investigation.
Later that evening, a spokesperson for the Reiner family released a brief statement confirming the deaths and asking for privacy as the family processes the sudden loss.
