My Roommate Kept Using Me as Her Personal Shopper, So I Got Creative with My Revenge

My roommate’s habit of demanding gourmet groceries with promises of repayment that never materialized pushed me over the edge. The tipping point came when she asked for an extensive list of premium items for a party. Determined to set things right, I hatched a plan.

It all began innocently enough a year ago when Taryn and I moved into our cozy city apartment. Initially, we shared chores and enjoyed movie nights. But slowly, Taryn’s requests for favors became more frequent and extravagant.

“Kelly, could you grab some milk? I’ll pay you back,” she’d say, escalating to requests for truffle cheese and exotic fruits, always promising reimbursement that never arrived.

While I worked, she lounged and hosted parties. Fed up, I snapped when she asked for a party spread—gourmet cheeses, top-shelf wine, the works. Instead of high-end items, I bought bargain bin wine, processed cheese slices, bland fruits, and cheap chocolates.

At the party, her guests’ reactions spoke volumes. Taryn’s embarrassment was palpable as they questioned the quality of each item. Seeing her flounder was satisfying—I had made my point.

Reflecting later, I realized Taryn had learned to respect boundaries and appreciate others’ efforts, a lesson she sorely needed.
