My Just-Adult Daughter Almost Married an Old Man, I Was Shocked until I Found out the Truth

Standing outside my daughter’s future husband’s house, worry consumed me. How could she marry someone so much older? I had to intervene. Just before knocking, I overheard a conversation inside.

“…yes, darling, everything is going according to plan,” he calmly stated.

My heart sank. What plan? Why did it sound sinister?

“…she has no idea what’s coming… Once we’re married, her inheritance will be all mine… she won’t be around to bother us anymore.”

Shock paralyzed me. He was scheming to exploit my daughter for his gain. How could I have missed this?

Rage ignited within me. Bursting in, I confronted him: “You despicable old man! How dare you manipulate my daughter? You’re nothing but a conniving fraud!”

His face twisted in surprise, then morphed into a sly grin. “Ah, Mr. Johnson, I didn’t expect you here,” he sneered.

Ignoring his taunt, I focused on my daughter’s well-being. “This ends now. You won’t get away with this.”

He scoffed, dismissing my words. “She loves me. She won’t believe a word you say.”

Determined, I turned to leave, vowing to protect my daughter from his deception. As I walked away, I knew the battle wasn’t over, but I was ready to fight for her happiness.
