My Girlfriend Left My Dog at the Shelter While I Was at Work — When I Went to Take Him Home, He Was Gone

When I walked into the shelter and saw a 4-month-old Great Pyrenees missing an eye and a paw, I knew he was meant to be mine. At that time, I was at my lowest, having attempted suicide twice after my parents died in a car accident. Naming him Frankie, we became best friends and inseparable.

Frankie wasn’t just a pet; he was my anchor and savior, providing unconditional love and loyalty. I even set up cameras at home to check on him while I was at work. He loved snacks, belly rubs, and all kinds of affection. He was the most important “person” in my life.

My girlfriend Leslie initially understood our bond. However, when we discussed moving in together, she shocked me by saying Frankie couldn’t come. I insisted, “No matter what, my dog is coming with me because he saved me.” We fought, and she left.

Days later, I found Frankie missing and realized Leslie had taken him to a shelter. “You’ll have to choose between me and your ugly puppy,” she said. I chose Frankie, and we parted ways.

At the shelter, I learned Frankie had been adopted. Desperate, I found him with Emma and her daughter Olivia, who had found solace in Frankie after losing her father. Emma and I bonded over our shared grief and love for Frankie. Eventually, we became a family, and Frankie, with his one eye and three paws, taught us all about love, devotion, and resilience.

This story highlights the profound impact of unconditional love and how our most meaningful connections often come from unexpected places.
