Mariah Carey Says Her Mom Patricia and Sister Alison Both Died on the Same Day

Mariah Carey is mourning the devastating loss of both her mother and sister, who tragically passed away on the same day. The singer, 55, shared her heartbreak in a statement to *People* on Monday, August 26. “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend,” Carey said. “Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”

While Carey did not provide details about the causes of their deaths, it was revealed that her mother, Patricia Carey, was 87 years old, and her sister, Alison Carey, was 63. Mariah expressed gratitude for the time she spent with her mother in her final days and thanked everyone for their support during this difficult period. Patricia Carey, married to Alfred Carey from 1960 to 1973, also had a son, Morgan Carey. Alfred passed away in 2002 at age 72.
