Jamie Farr, a.k.a the cross-dressing Corporal Maxwell Q. Klinger in “MAS*H,” and his wife, Joy, are marking an incredible 60 years of marriage!

Hollywood actor Jamie Farr married his wife, Jo Ann Richards, nearly 60 years ago, proposing to her without a ring due to financial struggles at the time. This unconventional start to their marriage didn’t hinder their lasting union.

Farr’s acting career began with challenges, taking small gigs to make ends meet alongside his partner, Jo Ann. Desperate for work, he famously stuck his head into a studio, landing a role in “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” which kickstarted his career.

After losing the role, Farr persisted, eventually securing a part in “The Greatest Story Ever Told” after persistent prayers to St. Jude. He married Jo Ann during this period, promising her a ring when he could afford one.

Thirteen years later, Farr fulfilled his promise with a 1.5-carat emerald ring, a touching moment for his family. Despite his success, Farr always remembered the challenging early years and cherished his wife’s unwavering support throughout. Their enduring marriage is a testament to love’s resilience beyond material gestures.
