High school student takes very important person to his senior prom: his 92-year-old great-grandmother

Teen Takes Great-Grandmother to Prom: A Heartwarming Tale

High school senior Dakota Wollan from Watford City, North Dakota, faced a prom dilemma until his father suggested an unconventional idea. Rather than asking a classmate, Dakota decided to take his 92-year-old great-grandmother, Madeline Miller, to the senior prom.

To make the invitation special, Dakota used his great-grandmother’s 1985 Ford truck, crafting a sign for the proposal. Despite feeling nervous about the unique request, Madeline was thrilled by the idea. She admitted never having been to a prom before and was initially curious about why Dakota chose her over younger peers.

Age proved to be no barrier as the duo became a highlight at the Watford City High School senior prom. Dakota recounted the enthusiastic reception, stating, “We walked out on the floor, and everyone just went wild.” Madeline cherished the experience, particularly enjoying “walking beside my great-grandson, listening to this music as we walked and people clapping and hollering.”

The heartwarming gesture not only made Dakota’s prom memorable but also granted Madeline the chance to attend her first prom. Their special night became a hit, leaving a lasting, joyous impression on both great-grandson and great-grandmother. This touching story reflects the power of unconventional choices and intergenerational bonding.
