First 2028 Democrat Bows Out, Will Not Run for President

Maryland Governor Wes Moore has officially ruled out a presidential run in 2028, narrowing the Democratic field ahead of a likely crowded primary.

Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press, Moore pledged to serve a full second term if reelected, stating clearly: “Yeah, I’m not running for president.” Pressed by host Kristen Welker, he emphasized his focus on Maryland’s progress, citing a drop in violent crime and one of the nation’s lowest unemployment rates.

His decision comes as speculation over 2028 grows. On Polymarket, Vice President JD Vance leads with 27% odds, followed by California Governor Gavin Newsom at 17% and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at 10%. Newsom leads Democrats at 22%, while Vance dominates Republicans with 56%.
