Farewell, Dr. Jill

First Lady Jill Biden has ended her 40-year teaching career, concluding her tenure at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). She revealed during a virtual event honoring educators that she had taught her final English and writing class, marking the end of 15 years at NOVA and four decades in education.

Joined by union leaders Randi Weingarten and Becky Pringle, Biden reflected, “Being your First Lady has been the honor of my life. But being your colleague has been the work of my life.” NOVA President Anne Kress praised her as an exceptional educator whose dedication inspired students nationwide. Jill Biden, who began teaching in 1976, was the first U.S. First Lady to maintain a full-time career while serving.
