David McCallum, a.k.a. Donald “Ducky” Mallard from “NCIS,” and his first wife, actress Jill Ireland welcomed three sons during their marriage

British actor David McCallum, renowned for his role as Donald “Ducky” Mallard on “NCIS,” has passed away at 90. He peacefully breathed his last at New York Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by family.

McCallum’s son Peter praised his father’s devotion to family and his remarkable 56-year marriage to Katherine Carpenter. He highlighted his mother’s grief at the loss and McCallum’s respect for his craft, recognized by his “NCIS” colleagues.

McCallum rose to fame in the 1960s with roles like Illya Kuryakin in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and excelled in numerous TV hits. Despite professional success, his personal life, including a nearly six-decade marriage, held captivating stories, notably his first wife Jill Ireland’s departure for Charles Bronson.

McCallum and Ireland shared a tumultuous relationship, including a painful divorce after Bronson expressed his desire for her. Despite the heartbreak, McCallum eventually found happiness with Katherine Carpenter, whom he married in 1967, enjoying a blissful union for 56 years.

Their marriage, though unconventional due to living apart for work, thrived on mutual understanding and love. McCallum cherished his life’s journey, boasting a fulfilling career and strong family ties, including eight grandchildren.

David McCallum’s legacy extends beyond his screen roles, embodying resilience in love and life, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories for generations to cherish.
