3 Effective Ways to Prevent Snakes from Entering Your Home Everyone Should Know to Protect Their Family

Snakes have poor vision but an exceptional sense of smell, enabling them to move quickly and often enter homes seeking food or shelter.

This risk is especially high in rural or suburban areas with gardens, greenery, or rodents. Hot, dry weather increases encounters as snakes search for cooler spaces with water and prey. Certain plants, like jasmine or night-blooming flowers, can attract rodents, indirectly drawing snakes.

To deter them, plant snake-repelling vegetation such as lemongrass, onion bulbs, or purple garlic orchids. Orpiment powder also works but must be handled with caution due to toxicity. Keeping dogs or cats reduces snake risks by controlling rodents and scaring intruders. Above all, maintain a clean environment, and call professionals if snakes appear.
